LCARS REMOTE CONNECTION

Welcome to the USS Sekyal LCARS Interface

service history

2266

Commissioned, Shakedown Mission.

2267

Assigned to Patrol the Romulan neutral zone.

2271-2274

Major refit as part of the Miranda Renew Program. Hull size increased, technology modernised, and interiors completely renewed. Computer core replaced Duotronic with Multitronic technology. Mega Phaser Installed.

2274-2347

Multi mission role with several captains and crew. Usually sent after a discovery of something interesting by a capital ship to repair something or lay sensor probes. Sometimes sent to colonies for repair work or to resolve local conflicts. Courier and Transport Missions are also popular. Some limited scientific research missions. By the 2340s the ship is old and considered almost obsolete, so it is not used for any high stakes security missions. Its fighters now out of date lay languishing in the hanger bays.

2274

Dispatched urgently to the Ketteract Research station in the Lantaru Sector on a Crisis and Emergency Response mission. There were suggestions of an explosion at the Ketteract Station but with very vague details. Strangely orders where changed at the last minute with no explanation and the ship was sent back to the Romulan Neutral Zone. Officially the captain at the time stated that the USS Enterprise had successfully dealt with the situation and further resources where no longer required.

2283

Several crew members are court marshalled and the captain reassigned after they were caught smuggling several crates of Romulan Ale into the Federation.

2347-2350

Served as an Escort Fighter Carrier in the Federation Cardassian War deploying its Wasp and Hornet Killerbee fighters and Light assault Shuttles. Happy to again be using its fighters.

2367

Served as an Escort at Wolf 359 where it was badly damaged and underwent extensive repairs and refit. Refit included replacing the aging Multitronic computer core with Isolinear core. Modernising to LCARS 4.4 and restyling the interiors. A Captains Yacht was assigned to the ship with a special launch bay on deck 8.
It was at this point the Mega Phaser was replaced with A Type U Pulse Phaser Cannon like the Defiant. This was only possible because of the pre-existence of the direct plasma feed from the warp core used by the Mega Phaser - quite unusual on a ship of this size. This upgrade is still hotly debated as the Mega Phaser was loved by the crew for its uniqueness and its ability to fire powerful beams fore and aft. The Pulse Cannons on the other hand only fire forward and cause increased stress ot the ship requiring extra power to structural Integrity fields.
Six Type VIII Phaser arrays where also fitted. Designers wanted to install Type X but the power demands where too great for the existing EPS conduits. Power must be managed very carefully if all phasers are used but it is assumed that the exixting Phaser Banks would no longer be used, however there was no time to decommission them and the decision was made to leave them in place and are still functional.

2368

Dispatched to lay a network of warning beacons around the Typhon Expanse.

2368

Dispatched to lay a network of warning beacons around the Typhon Expanse.

2370

Assigned to Patrol the Cardassian DMZ.

2373

Killerbee fighters replaced with Peregrine Fighters and Shuttles upgraded. Workerbees replaced with more capable worker pods.

2373-2375

Served as Escort Fighter Carrier and Torpedo Supply vessel in the Dominion War. It was equipped with extra stowage for torpedoes, and a large deuterium and antideuterium storage area for fuelling them. These where never removed and now sit empty taking up space that could be used for science labs or larger quarters. Had several near misses and saw a lot of its sister ships destroyed. Amazingly suffers minimal damage but lost all but one of its Fighters. A very harrowing time for the crew.

2376

Stationed at DS9 post war to help with relief efforts and repairs. Utilising its stock of workerpods, large cargo bays and support craft.

2377

Captains Yacht was stolen by Ferengi thieves whilst docked to DS9. This was its maiden voyage.

2378-Present

Reassigned to Starbase 621. Officially assigned to the FRSR Fleet. Passed over by Command to be fitted with experimental slip stream drives, much to the crews disappointment. Now awaiting a decision on its continued service as the older Miranda Class ships are mothballed, it is assigned as part of the Fast Response Supply and Reconnaissance Unit - basically a dogsbody ship doing all the jobs nobody else wants. One of its benefits is its large hangar bays for its size. Originally carrying Killerbee fighters (One of which is still in the cargo bay as a relic when the captain at the time ordered one to "dissapear before the engineers took them all!") upgraded to Peregrine fighters during the dominion war. Now houses mostly transport shuttles and a solitary fighter - "Lucky 7" that was left over from the dominion war one of only a handful of fighters that survived. The crew are on a personal mission to prove the ships usefulness. If they pass the ship will receive a new refit - perhaps a nice shiny science vessel, or perhaps an intelligence ship? If it fails however it will likely be assigned to a colony or non-star fleet entity, possibly mothballed if luck prevails or else decomissioned to the great shipyard in the sky.
