Iris Adachi was found on Ajilon Prime by human civilian traders Akimitsu Adachi and Hana Adachi, who were part of the human colony of Ajilon Prime, trading in foods with neighbouring colonies.

Starfleet were made aware of the child that the Adachi's had adopted, and were interested in it's origins, the species name given by exobiologist Lt. Commander Evelyn Marik was Imp, as a result of old Earth myth.

Life on a human colony was not easy for Iris, due to her various differences, and Starfleet Medical taking a large interest in her, as well as needing to find ways to treat a race they had never met before.

Iris had no interest in going into trade, and had become an astute fighter, she decided to enroll on a Starfleet course, making her way to Earth for courses, specifically in security. She excelled in close combat fighting, and became adept at using a phaser rifle.
